    Powder brow Frequently Asked Questions

Ombre / Powder brow is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing technique of inserting small amounts of pigment into the dermal layer of the skin for enhancing the appearance, shape, and fullness of the eyebrows. Ombré brow, also known as "powdered brow" is a soft, natural like and powder-filled brow similar to the look of makeup. Unlike microblading, these brows are typically done with a machine, last longer with more retention (depending on lifestyle factors) and is suitable for many candidates.

The usual healing period for the initial session is 6-8 weeks, after which the second visit (touch up appointment) is typically required. During the healing period redness, swelling, scabbing of the skin, irritation, itching, minor bleeding, rush and other effects may occur. Over time, pigment fades about 50% leaving you with beautiful results. An annual touch up is recommended as maintenance and longer lasting brows.

    • Do NOT drink ALCOHOL or CAFFEINE 24 hours prior to your appointment.

    • Do NOT take medication for pain relief like IBUPROFEN, ADVIL or ASPIRIN before your appointment.

    • NO Vitamin E or Fish oil one week prior to the procedure (they are natural blood thinners).

    • STOP using Retinol or any exfoliating skin care products one week prior.

    • Do NOT thread/tweeze/wax/tint one week before the procedure.

    • Do NOT tan one week prior to the service, face should not be sunburned.

    • REFRAIN from Botox or fillers 3 weeks prior to the procedure. Please inform of any current injections.  Makeup to the appointment is optional!

Results are contingent on the following factors: aftercare, skin type (dry, oily, sun-damaged, thick or thin skin), lifestyle preferences such as exercise, alcohol consumption and smoking.

    • Swelling and redness is completely normal and will subside within 1-2 days

    • Brows may appear dark and thicker than expected, but don't worry this is very normal for freshly done brows.

    • While your brows are healing, the skin will begin to scab. Once shedding starts, the area may appear extremely light. Don’t worry, this pigment will eventually settle into the appropriate shade when shedding is complete and pigment resurfaces.

    • Brows will appear 40% lighter within 7-10 days. In total, it should take about 6-8 weeks for your the pigment to be true.

With proper aftercare, expect to see small scabs, which is the top layers of skin peeling off. The tattooed area is a healing wound, so aftercare is CRITICAL.

AVERAGE HEALING TIME  7-10 days, however this will vary from person to person.  Other factors that may affect healing time include diet, excessive physical activity, exposure to direct sunlight, and any medications you might be taking.

The following skin conditions in and around the brow area will compromise your permanent makeup result:

    •  Dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis
    •  Broken capillaries
    • Rosacea

    • Skin infection or irritation (acne, folliculitis, sunburn)
    • Moles, deep wrinkles, piercings scars
    • Keloid scars
    • Brow transplant recipient (scar tissue)

The following medical conditions will prevent you from having a permanent makeup procedure:

    •  Pregnant/breastfeeding
    • Trichotillomania
    •  High blood pressure
    •  Heart condition
    •  Hemophilia
    •  Reliant on blood thinners
    •  Autoimmune disorder
    •  On immunosuppressants
    • Thyroid condition & taking medication for it
    • Diabetes (doctor’s clearance needed)
    • Undergoing or recently undergone chemotherapy (doctor’s clearance needed)

    •  Recently undergone surgery in and around the eye and brow area
    • Taking Accutane/Isotretinoin (must wait a year upon completing)
